Submission Guidelines

Submission guidelines for 2013

If you are a director:

1. Please submit a perusal copy of the script you are interested in with a brief synopsis of the storyline (about a paragraph will do). Please note that scripts will not be returned (so make us a COPY).
2. Let us know what your particular vision is for the piece and why it speaks to you as a director. Why is the show a good fit for our space?
3. Let us know what time frames work best for you, keeping in mind that STAGES commonly has a six week run for its “main stage” productions and a five week run for its “showcase” productions that run in rep. If you are interested in a musical, please be aware that those are commonly slated for the summer months. Our production schedule starts the weekend after New Years with a dark weekend between each production.
4. If you have any sort of production team in mind, please do not hesitate to include their names.
5. Give us a run down of the technical aspects of the show. What will you be looking for in terms of set, lights, sound, and costumes. Be as detailed as possible.
6. Are there any “selling points” to your production? Is there a possible educational tie-in? Would this particular show interest a specific group? Any possible marketing angles?
7. Of course, please provide us with your resume and if possible some contact info for companies you've worked with before.
8. The more detailed you can be, the better! It shows us you've put some serious thought into your proposal!

If your are a playwright:

1. Please send us a perusal copy of your script, a brief description of your plot, and character breakdown. If the original piece is a musical, please include a CD of the score.
2. Do you have anyone in mind to direct this piece? If so, please have that director submit to the theatre using the guidelines above.
3. Are you open to work-shopping the piece? Or is the script in its final, finished form?
4. Has the piece been performed elsewhere? If so, a selection of reviews and/or production photos would be appreciated.

If you are a designer:

1. Please submit your resume along with references.
2. Let us know what time period you might be interested in.
3. Let us know what types of productions you would be interested in working on (Comedies? Dramas? Musicals?).

The deadline for submission is July 1st. All submissions can be dropped off at the theatre via our mail-slot, or they can be sent via email (.pdf files will work) to us at: stagesoc@stagesoc.org
