Play Synopsis
The action centers on Truvy's beauty salon in Chinquapin, Louisiana . The play begins on the morning of Shelby 's wedding to Jackson and covers events over the next several years, including Shelby 's decision to have a child despite having diabetes and the complications that result from that decision.

We also get a glimpse of the unlikely friendship between Clairee and Ouiser; and over the course of the play we watch Truvy’s new assistant, Annelle transform from a shy, anxious newcomer in town to a partying woman and then to a religious fundamentalist. Although the main storyline involves Shelby, her mother (M’Lynn) and Shelby 's medical battles, the underlying group-friendship among the women is prominent throughout.

Filled with hilarious repartee and not a few acerbic but humorously revealing verbal collisions, the play moves toward tragedy when, in the second act, the spunky Shelby risks pregnancy and forfeits her life. The sudden realization of their mortality affects the others, but also draws on the underlying strength, and love, which gives the play, and its characters, the special quality to make them truly touching, funny and marvelously amiable company in good times and bad.

Play Synopsis:

Similar in structure to the original source material, Steel Magnolias, except for the obvious; All Female roles are played by men in DRAG! Also, there are many more comedic moments in the show and we are not going to give a way until opening night!

Sufficed to say that, the character break down and setting is the same as Steel Magnolias. The action centers in Truvy's beauty salon in Chinquapin, Louisiana . The play begins on the morning of Shelby 's wedding to Jackson and covers events over the next several years, including Shelby 's decision to have a child despite having CBS, (or more commonly known as Chronic Bitch Syndrome). We also get a glimpse of the unlikely friendship between Clairee and Ouiser; one an obsessive alcoholic and the other a pill popping diva.

As you can tell, this is not your Momma’s Steel Magnolias folks. It’s a funny, fast paced romp through the gender bending world of a Drag Queen Ruled Beauty Shop in the Deep South.... In the Early 1980’s!

Character Breakdown: (All roles are open!)
*Truvy Jones: owner of the beauty shop
*Annelle Dupuy-Desoto: Beauty shop assistant
*Clairee Belcher: rich widow of the former town mayor
*Shelby Eatenton: The bride–to-be!
*M’Lynn Eatenton: Socially prominent career woman
*Ouiser Boudreaux: The towns wealthy curmudgeon
